Sociology Honours was introduced in 2002 at Mrinalini Datta
Mahavidyapith but Sociology as a general subject was introduced in the year
1998.With the passage of time the department has witnessed a steady rise in
the number of students in both Honours and General stream. The department has
two qualified teachers in substantive post, a Contractual Whole Time Teacher
and a Part Time Teacher. The Department organises frequent Special Lecture
Programmes, excursions and other cultural activities, The Department
emphasises on Audio-Visual activities, power point presentations and
classroom discussion. |

Departmental Highlights: |

The
department is involved in several interdisciplinary courses with other
departments. Collaboration
with several non-profit organizations like CINI, PRATHAM etc. for field
training. Regular
visit by eminent academicians and scientists like: A seminar
was organized jointly with the Department of English on literature, society
and communication. Learning
through audio-visual method on several topics Cross border politics,
Acid Attack, Polygamy, Child Marriage. Dedicated,
integrated faculties with high aspirations. There
is departmental library with necessary books. Departmental
alumni association is very communicative and active. Good
communication between teacher and students. |
