Departmental Highlights
Since 2008, there has been a number of eminent academicians:
Dr. Aswini Ray, Dr. K.N. Jena, Dr. Kumaresh Chakraborty, Dr. Kumkum Chattopadhyay, Kuntal Mukhopadhyay, Abdus Samad Gayen who have delivered their valuable lectures on International relations, globalization, Western & Indian political thought, etc.
A National Seminar on �Women in Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies in West Bengal� was organized on 11th and 12th December, 2009, with the financial assistance from the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal.
Majority of the students are engaged in projects related to women�s political participation & empowerment.
Five students received Certificates for actively participating in District Level Mock Parliament Programme. One of our students (Hons) received the Award as the Best Opposition Leader on this occasion.
Library stock with over 3000 books.
For learning enhancement documentary film shows followed by interactive session between the teachers and the students are held regularly.
A quarterly wall magazine is published by the Department which covers various issues related to the syllabus.
An Annual Journal containing scholarly articles by the teachers, students and alumni is regularly published by the department.
Educational tours are organized for promoting their academic interest as well as for enhancing teacher -student interaction outside the class room.
